Adelphi, MD (February 4, 2025)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and Ancora High School®, an online secondary school that affords students 18 years and older the opportunity to earn a traditional high school diploma, have announced a groundbreaking alliance aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for Ancora High School students and creating a seamless transition into post-secondary education.
“We are pleased and very enthusiastic to establish this new pathway for Ancora High School’s students to easily continue to grow and build a skill set that can lead to personal and career success,” said Chris Motz, Chief Partnerships Officer at UMGC. “In addition to our affordable course offerings in a wide range of workforce-relevant fields, we provide our students with wrap-around support, from admissions counselors available to help students register for their first classes, to our success coaches who help them navigate their academic journey, and to UMGC’s lifetime career services.”
UMGC also uses mostly no- to low-cost digital learning resources in place of costlier publisher textbooks, making affordable content a click away and mobile-ready for its busy adult learners.
Ancora High School provides high school diploma completion opportunities for students needing courses in grades 10-12 to finish their secondary education on their own time and at their own pace.
Under this alliance, Ancora High School students will have the opportunity to enroll in offerings at UMGC after successful completion of their secondary school experience. This partnership opens doors for students to explore their academic interests and accelerate progress towards a degree while having early in-school exposure to offerings and opportunities.
“We are excited about the opportunities this alliance will create for our students,” said Andrea Snow, SVP & In-House Counsel for Ancora and Chair of the Board for Ancora High School. “By partnering with UMGC, we can provide our students with a seamless pathway to higher education, ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to thrive academically and professionally.”
Additionally, UMGC will have the opportunity to refer students who are ineligible for admission due to academic readiness to Ancora High School, offering a bridge outside of just a GED pathway.
Ancora High School, renowned for its innovative approach to education and comprehensive support services, will work closely with referred students to help them achieve academic success through an accredited and recognized high school diploma and prepare for their future educational endeavors.
The alliance between UMGC and Ancora High School underscores both institutions’ commitment to expanding access to quality education and preparing students for success in an ever-changing world. Through collaboration and innovation, UMGC and Ancora High School are paving the way for a brighter future for students across the United States and beyond.
