McCann School Of Business & Technology Adds New Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Basic Refrigeration Program To Help Meet Skilled Trade Job Demands
The 10-month hands-on training program debuts in Allentown
(ALLENTOWN, PA) October 10, 2022 – More opportunities will be available to fill the roles of technicians and installers in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Basic Refrigeration (HVAC/BR) as the field continues to evolve over the next 10 years, according to the Pennsylvania In-Demand Occupation List. To help meet industry needs, the McCann School of Business and Technology has launched a new HVAC/BR program that will help prepare students with hands-on training.
Since the pandemic, skilled trade jobs have become more prevalent among younger generations as baby boomers begin to retire from the industry. Gen Z is 22% more likely to attend a career and technical college over a four-year university as a result of the pandemic. Training for skilled trades requires less of a financial commitment and offers a shorter path to a potential career.
“Before we launch a new program, we have a meeting with top leaders in the industry who have a keen insight into the needs of the communities we look to serve and find areas where we can make the biggest impact,” said Bill Myers, National Program Director for Trades Programs at Ancora Education, a network of post-secondary and vocational schools. “Our course development is thoughtfully designed to provide students with the tools, resources, and support to carve their own path in the field.”
In addition to lab coursework, students will also learn technical customer service, business communications and equipment repairs.
Currently, McCann’s Allentown campus is the only location offering HVAC/BR programming and training.
“We couldn’t be more excited to offer this course to our Eastern Pennsylvania community,” said Andrea Snow, SVP of Academics & Career Services at Ancora Education. “As educators, we recognize there is a need and desire to have HVAC/BR part of the curriculum as more professionals are being called upon nationwide. I’m proud to have our instructors and staff guide students along their new journey.”
The McCann School of Business and Technology offers student enrollment on a rolling basis every five weeks, with programs that can be completed in as little as 10 months. This framework provides more flexibility and opportunities for students to develop a schedule that works for their individual lifestyle.
