To Help Meet the Ongoing Demand for Truck Drivers, McCann School of Business & Technology Launches CDL Program to Train Tomorrow’s Drivers
Financial Assistance is Available for those who Qualify and Program Can Be Completed in as Little as Four Weeks
(MONROE, LA) October 17, 2022 – The American Trucking Associations (ATA) estimates the 2021 driver shortage capped at 80,000 drivers saying if the trend continues the trucking industry could need more than 160,000 drivers by 2030. Recognizing the ongoing demand, McCann School of Business and Technology-Monroe, part of Ancora Education’s network of private postsecondary schools and a leading workforce provider, recently launched a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program.
“Our job is to help our students learn how to drive a commercial truck and how to perform the proper maintenance and repairs. And of course safety. Safety is always a top priority,” said McCann CDL Program Director Allen Brown. “Our students leave here prepared with the knowledge and experience to pursue a career in the trucking industry.”
To help with tuition, students may apply for a grant from the M.J. Foster Promise Program. The grant program provides financial assistance to eligible students who enroll in a qualified program that is aligned with Louisiana’s workforce priorities like CDL training.
The CDL training program requires 160 hours and can be completed in as little as four weeks. Enrollment is on a rolling basis with programs beginning every four to eight weeks. Visit mcann.edu for more details.
“Earning a CDL license is a great opportunity for those looking for a flexible career with earning potential,” said McCann Executive Director Kelli Harvey. “With the demand for drivers only increasing in the coming years, it only makes sense for McCann to offer a program that helps put individuals in our communities in the right position for years to come.”
McCann School of Business & Technology does not guarantee third-party licensure. Licensure requirements for taking and passing licensure examinations are not controlled by McCann but by outside agencies and are subject to change by the agencies without notice to McCann.
